About Me
I have a background in community mental health, having worked with some of our community’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring greater access to necessary resources including housing, food, clothing, medical and mental healthcare. Through this work, I developed a passion to help those members of our community who are experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, and other challenges due to inequitable societal conditions. Today, I offer psychotherapy to couples and individuals in a different setting, but my passion for serving those in need is unwavering. I am always developing and honing my skills as a therapist, and I’m grateful to all my clients over the years, for letting me grow with them.
When not working, I am tending to my plants, riding around the city by bike, socializing with friends, painting, or reading.
BETTER DAYS ARE AHEAD
Approach
I am inspired by how broader social systems function and how they influence intra- and interpersonal relationships. I think systemically and work relationally. My approach comprises cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy, as well as psychodynamic, and emotionally focused therapy techniques. I am sex positive, LGBTQIA affirming, and I operate from a strengths-based perspective, uplifting my clients and normalizing their experiences.
I believe that many of the patterns an individual experiences outside of therapy, play out within the client/therapist relationship. Identifying these patterns and their origins in a client’s attachment needs offers the insight necessary to effect change. In couples therapy, I work to deepen the way clients relate to each other at an emotional level. It is in this emotionally vulnerable place that change and healing can occur. I invite clients to be curious and compassionate with themselves and each other while doing this work.
