Three Peas Art Lounge

One of my large scale paintings, Back Stairs, has been accepted into the Evolving Artists Competition at the Beverly Arts Center.

The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009.

For decades, residents of the north side and the south side have been
rivals. North Meets South is an art show that showcases the creative
works of current Chicago artists from both sides of the dividing line.
Whether he or she grew up on the south side of Chicago, or near the
swamplands of southern Florida, each artist is influenced by their
current life in Chicago. Lauren, Darius, Noreen and Louie invite you to
North Meets South, a collection of work, new and old, that offers
multiple perspectives of life in the Windy City.

Lauren Karrenberg, a graduate from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, makes paintings of the community. She records the layered and antiquated personality of the neighborhoods using architecture as the subject. The neighborhoods are kept anonymous and have a sense of history. The colors are mainly neutral reds and browns with flares of bright blues and greens that help show the community’s contrast and diversity.

Art Shorts, 2008 showcases a select group of artists that produce video works. The artists will exhibit short videos as well as some 2 dimensional pieces. There was no theme or requirement other than to make a video shorter than 10 minutes.

Pyramid Studios is a gallery, artist studio and photography studio. Pyramid’s first exhibition, titled Open House 2007, featured the studio artists and celebrated over 30 years of Pyramid Photographics. Pyramid Studios is open to the public Monday-Friday, 10am-5pm.
